No. 18 - the decade, my 20s

Owing to the lack of time and one lasik-operated eye, a comprehensive sequela christi post cannot be drafted (reference to no. 16). So skipping past the year and its penultimate pilgrimage - here's a quick one on the decade.

The beauty of being born in the year 1990 is that the year runs alongside my age (e.g. 1991/ 2001/2011 = 1/11/21). I can therefore write quite definitively that my reflections on the past decade would also be my reflections on my 20s.

When I was younger - I thought that 27 year olds were old. Now that I have past that age - I'm inclined to believe that the new old is 40 & that's really because I need to buy myself some time before being defined as old.

I started 2009 in Taiwan, and several days later came back to a big bunch of red roses and officially being Mark's girlfriend. This event would later influence other key events of the decade including getting engaged, married, papal blessing and draining my bank account to move out into my own tiny home.

Between 2009-2019, I also went to university, graduated, started a career, experienced great losses, underwent dental jaw surgery, travelled a lot and returned back to church ministry - along the way gaining no less than 6kg and emerging with a munch rounder face and physique.

To attempt to track all the events of the decade would take me forever and probably much longer screen-time than my doctor would prefer I indulge in.

But here it is, to the greatest blessing of this decade - an expansion of my family.

I've always been blessed with an incredible family - quirky and blunt but ever so incredibly loving. This decade, it got bigger - the number and quantum of love expanding far more than these pictures contain.

Here's to family

(and me getting back into shape in 2020 - lol)

About Me

Hi, I'm Val.

I have a terrible sense of humour, a running commentary in my head I need to be rid of and a love for all things I have been undeservedly blessed with.

if you've ever driven past me on the road, I'm probably that crazy driver head banging and who looked like she was screaming/ singing at the top of her lungs to her spotify playlist - or if I'm not driving, I am that girl decked out in activewear carrying a cloth bag and walking a white mini labradoodle who's on the hunt for the next mud spot he can roll himself in.

I share as @valalelor, once wrote at w_iredblind@livejournal and slice avocados and fruits at my work desk. Its nice to meet you too.
